Introduction: pulmonary-Renal Syndrome (SPR) is a medical condition involving correlated symptoms in the lungs and kidneys, presenting diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its intricate and varied etiology. Despite its global rarity, a slightly elevated prevalence has been observed in Latin America, including Ecuador. Early detection of SPR is essential, given the tendency to diagnose it at advanced stages in the region.
General Objective: the aim of this literature review is to describe the diagnosis and treatment of Pulmonary-Renal Syndrome by gathering and analyzing relevant information from the last 5 years in both Spanish and English.
Results: the research on the pulmonary-renal syndrome (SPR) reveals its multifactorial nature, with causes ranging from vasculitis to reactions to drugs such as hydralazine. The presence of autoantibodies, such as anti-peroxidase, plays a crucial role in its pathogenesis. A multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment is essential, and the research underscores the relevance of considering external factors, such as the consumption of adulterated cocaine, in its onset.
Conclusions: the pulmonary-renal syndrome (SPR) is a multifaceted clinical entity whose diagnosis and treatment demand a multidisciplinary approach. Its complex nature, influenced by factors such as medications and autoantibodies, emphasizes the importance of a thorough clinical evaluation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
